Menire Project is the first project exclusively designated for the Kayapó women. It was developed in 2006 by indigenous people activist Carmen Figueiredo. Its main objective is to preserve and disclose the culture of this people through an alternative sustainable income for these women who live in the heart of the Amazon Forest. These women, who do not have Portuguese as their mother tongue, are the symbol of resistance and survival of Kayapó culture. Such women are the main responsible people for transmitting their culture to their children and, by doing so, they allow its perpetuation.
Through the project, they share their art and beauty with us, transferring their corporal painting and other elements of their mythical universe to the fabrics and to the glass beads.
Production is totally original and manually manufactured by the Indian women in their villages, respecting their rights over their immemorial culture, assuring their authenticity.
